Marchamo 2027 in installments: which banks offer zero interest
Banks and credit unions that let you pay the 2027 marchamo in interest-free installments, for how many months, the monthly cost and what to check before choosing it.

The 2027 marchamo is due December 31, right when year-end expenses pile up. If you can't pay it all at once, several banks and credit unions let you split it into interest-free installments ("tasa cero"). Here's who offers it, for how many months and what to check before you choose it.
What is "tasa cero" for the marchamo?
You pay the full marchamo on time, usually with your credit card or through one of the institution's channels, and the bank splits that amount into equal monthly installments without charging interest. The INS receives the full payment, so your marchamo is up to date from day one.
Who offers interest-free installments for the 2027 marchamo?
As announced by the institutions when payment opened on November 2, 2026:
- Banco Popular: "BP Tasa Cero Marchamo", over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months, at branches or through Banca Fácil.
- Banco Nacional: 0% financing over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months through participating channels.
- Promerica: 0% financing from 3 to 12 months.
- BAC and Davivienda: interest-free installments with participating credit cards when you pay at Walmart Money Centers; up to 18 months with BAC and 3 to 12 months with Davivienda.
- Coocique: zero interest over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.
- Caja de ANDE (shareholders only): zero interest over 6 or 12 months, plus a loan of up to ₡1 million to cover the marchamo.
Many of these institutions also raffle cars or cash prizes among people who pay the marchamo with them. Conditions vary by card and channel: confirm them with your bank before paying.
How much would you pay per month?
With a ₡240,000 marchamo, for example:
- over 3 months: ₡80,000 a month;
- over 6 months: ₡40,000 a month;
- over 12 months: ₡20,000 a month.

Is paying in installments a good idea?
- Yes, if the rate is truly zero and the installment fits your budget: it spreads the cost without paying more.
- Pay each installment in full and on time. If you're late or pay only the card's minimum, interest may be charged on the balance.
- Check your credit limit. The full marchamo amount comes off your card's available credit the day you pay.
- Ask whether there's a fee and whether the zero rate applies automatically or must be requested when paying.
- Check the total before paying: the INS adds an optional ₡11,900 insurance by default. See how to remove it.
