Guide: aguinaldo 2026, how much you get and when it's paid →
How is the aguinaldo calculated?
Under Law 2412, the aguinaldo is one twelfth of everything you earned in the period: regular salary plus overtime, commissions, bonuses and incentives. Use each month's gross salary (before deductions). Leave months you didn't work at zero: if you started or left during the period, you get the proportional amount.
Is anything deducted?
No. The aguinaldo isn't subject to CCSS social security contributions or income tax. It can only be garnished for child support.
When is it paid?
Employers must pay it by December 20, 2026. If you don't receive it, you can contact the Ministry of Labor (mtss.go.cr), line 800-TRABAJO.
