Today is Monday, November 2.
Restriction by day
| Day | Last digit of the plate |
|---|---|
| Monday | 1 and 2 |
| Tuesday | 3 and 4 |
| Wednesday | 5 and 6 |
| Thursday | 7 and 8 |

How it works
The license-plate restriction applies Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., inside the Circunvalación ring road in San José. The new section of Circunvalación between La Uruca and the Calle Blancos junction isn't included. Exempt vehicles include emergency vehicles, public transportation and electric vehicles, among others.
The MOPT (Ministry of Public Works and Transport) usually lifts the restriction on some holidays, school breaks and at the end of the year, and announces it a few days ahead. Always check mopt.go.cr.
Driving a rental car? The restriction applies to it too, by its plate number.
